Your child's education is a roadmap. It starts at kindergarten with a final destination of a high school diploma and then perhaps on to college for some, trade school for others. But sometimes there are detours along the way--dyslexia, problems comprehending math or language--but that doesn't mean your child won't get to the final destination, it just means they need a different route.

We understand that each learning need is unique and not every student learns in exactly the same way. That's why we partner with you and your child's teacher to develop a personalized roadmap to help your child achieve academic success. Filling the Gap
In 1990, the staff of a Chicago area Christian School met with the staff of Elim Christian Services, which is a school specializing in services for students with learning needs. The goal was to develop a program to address the learning needs of students in mainstream schools.
Elim Christian Services began to envision a new division of ministry--Discovery Network Services. This new effort would reach beyond the walls of Elim into area Christian schools, to meet the needs of children with average learning ability who still struggled to learn.
This vision is continuing to grow. The Discovery Educational Center is the latest initiative of Elim Christian Services to expand Discovery services to the community.
Academic challenges cover a broad range of issues that affect how a child learns. Children who struggle need educational tools that many mainstream schools do not offer. The Discovery Educational Center fills that gap and helps students achieve academic success with minimum disruption to their regular education or that of their classmates.
Today, Discovery offers its services in fifteen mainstream schools and is working with over 400 children to help them reach beyond their potential.

Unrivaled experience with extraordinary students
The Director of the Discovery Educational Center, Frances Wright, has over thirty years of experience working with students with a variety of learning needs. Mrs. Wright earned her Masters of Education in learning disabilities and has taught in the Discovery Center program at Timothy Christian Schools in Elmhurst for over twelve years.
All the Discovery Center's facilitators are experienced classroom teachers who have received training in the programs used by Discovery Educational Center. The staff of the Educational Center will work with you and your child to develop a customized academic program to help your child reach beyond potential.
